Youth Empowerment

The Youth Programme coordinates the implementation of adolescents and youth programs in the national response to SRH, HIV, AIDS, health and wellbeing. It targets young people aged 10-24 years In-school, out of school and in higher and tertiary education institutions.

The programme aims to reduce new HIV infections, manage the impact of HIV and increase access to services among young people. It ensures provision of age appropriate, scientifically based and culturally relevant interventions centred on behaviour change communication, life-skills, livelihoods, and youth friendly service delivery.

It empowers young people with comprehensive sexuality education and life skills that enable them to make informed decisions and choices resulting in the reduction in morbidity and mortality associated with sexual reproductive health, HIV and AIDS among adolescents and youth.

The programme brings out the coordinated voice of young people in the national response to HIV and AIDS through the Young People's Network on Health and wellbeing (YPNHW).
